Terms of use
The short version
- You may play Polycross for your own, non-commercial use.
- Gems are game items. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded, except where the law or the store’s rules say otherwise.
- Apple and Google handle every payment. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your store account.
- On iPhone and iPad, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies.
Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Polycross: Vocabulary Puzzle (“Polycross”, “the app”, “we”, “us”). The publisher’s details are in the privacy policy. By downloading or using the app you accept these terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please read them with a parent or guardian.
Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. The app, its puzzles, word lists, recordings, artwork and code belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute them, extract the content in bulk, or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
Gems and other virtual items
- Gems are earned by playing, by watching an optional video, or bought in gem packs. They can only be used inside the app, for example to reveal a letter.
- Gems and other virtual items are a limited licence to use a game feature. They are not money or property, have no cash value, and cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for real money or anything outside the app.
- Purchases of gems are final and non-refundable, except as required by law or by the refund rules of Apple or Google.
- Your gems and progress are stored on your device and in your own iCloud or Google backup, because there is no account. If you delete the app and its backup, or the backup is not available, we cannot restore gems that were spent or earned. Purchases of “Remove ads” can always be restored from the store.
- We may change how many gems things cost or earn, as part of balancing the game. Gems you already have stay yours.
Purchases and subscriptions
- All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their terms. We never see your payment details. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- “Remove ads” is offered as a one-time purchase and as a monthly auto-renewable subscription. Both turn off the ads shown between puzzles; optional reward videos stay available.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. Payment is charged to your store account when you confirm the purchase, and the renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- To cancel: on iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, open Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, ads stay off until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Use “Restore purchases” in Settings or in the shop to get your purchases back on a new device.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- cheat, or use bots, modified versions of the app or tools that change how it works;
- interfere with the app, its servers or its ads, or try to get around purchases or limits;
- send reports or feedback that are abusive, unlawful, or contain other people’s personal data.
If you break these rules, we may stop providing the app or its online features to you.
Content accuracy
We work hard to make every word, translation, article and recording correct, but language is messy and some entries may be wrong or debatable. Polycross is a game for learning vocabulary, not a dictionary or a professional translation. If you spot a mistake, open the ⋯ menu in the puzzle and choose “Report a mistake”; we read every report and fix the content.
Ads
The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, as described in the privacy policy. Ads are provided by third parties; we are not responsible for their content or for the products they advertise.
Availability and changes
We may update the app, add or remove puzzles, languages and features, or stop offering it. Some features need an internet connection and may be unavailable at times. We may update these terms; we will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply.
Liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be free of errors or interruptions, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, progress or gems. Where the law allows a limit, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
App Store terms
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, Apple’s agreement prevails for apps downloaded from the App Store. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. If you got the app from Google Play, Google Play’s terms of service also apply.
